Although marketing and advertising concepts have many things in common they do perform different functions from one another.

Marketing involves research and analysis, including the study of the demographics of your customer base, which allows you to implement the most suitable marketing strategy for your particular demographic. This sales and marketing research, done correctly, would extend to include awareness of the varies ethnic groups, ages, genders and income levels of those within your customer base.

Advertising on the other hand is the process of making your product known to your customer base. This normally entails advertising in various social and media outlets, on signage and via pamphlets, brochures and website, all of which are some of the more common and equally, effective, ways of promoting business products and services. The most important thing about advertising is that it must be time responsive and more important, procedures must be in place (prior to advertising) to respond to all enquiries.
